When Royal cup first sat down with Stellar on their expansion project they let them know they had bold aspirations and high expectations. We challenged Stellar to complete the project in just over five months. This was an incredibly fast-track schedule, given that retrofits of this scale, as we were told by our own advisors, typically require at least eight to nine months. Stellar's versatility and experience with complex construction enabled them to meet this aggressive schedule while achieving our high quality and safety standards.
It is not very often that I find myself in a position to write a letter such as this one, where we had such a favorable experience in a very time-sensitive multi-million dollar construction project. Stellar's attention to detail and management of all subcontractors and work site personnel was outstanding. Their project managers communicated well with my team and were responsive to our questions and concerns through the many changes along the way. Our facility in Jacksonville is up and operating, at a level beyond our expectations for a job that was completed in such a short time frame.
We’re good at what we do but our specialty is not in construction. When we needed a design and construction specialist, Stellar was there for us. Dr. Bowden and I had a vision and an idea of how much we wanted to spend and a definite date for our grand opening. Stellar made all of that happen.
Throughout the project we found Stellar’s project management team to be attentive and courteous. They listened to our needs and to the needs of our staff and then did what was asked of them. We first noticed this early in the design process and found it to be true all the way to the end.

I entrusted Stellar with three very important building projects during my career – my work, my home and my place of worship. Each time, they exceeded my expectations. As CEO of American Heritage Life (now a subsidiary of Allstate), I chose Stellar to build a new headquarters. And when we expanded, I called upon them to build an addition to the building. Years later, when I wanted to build a home on my quail-hunting plantation, Stellar was the natural choice. And when a fire destroyed the sanctuary at our church, Hendricks Avenue Baptist, I was fortunate to be able to help select Stellar to rebuild it.

We selected Stellar to be our design-build partner in this innovative poultry processing facility because of their reputation in the food industry with significant experience in food safety. We wanted to challenge Stellar to live up to its tagline, “Taking Solutions Further,” and we could not have been more satisfied with their innovative design, execution and the professionalism of their employees. Any challenges that arose during the project were met with innovative solutions. The backbone of this project’s success was Stellar’s and Keystone Foods’ commitment to open dialogue and collaboration. Stellar certainly lived up to their tagline.
In addition, the Stellar team's attention to quality control was outstanding. Not only did the team set the bar high, but it was a true team effort, from the superintendent all the way up to Stellar's vice president of design and vice president of construction, both of whom made trips to the island to ensure everything was running smoothly at the site.
In addition, it was reassuring to see that Stellar's quality control plan is personalized for each project — it isn't boilerplate or off the shelf. It reflects what the specific project requirements are. Stellar took full responsibility for quality control for all of its subcontractors. It was clear that Stellar's philosophy is that its subcontractors are part of the team, and that the owner shouldn't have to deal with several different entities.
Most importantly, the Stellar team was dedicated to meeting and even exceeding the high-quality standards set forth at the beginning of the project. There was no question or discussion — it was a given that Stellar stands behind its work and will do whatever it takes to ensure a quality product.
Nestlé has had an ongoing business relationship with Stellar for approximately 10 years, and they have successfully completed several major industrial design-build construction projects in various locations ranging from $1 million to $140 million in value. The projects were executed in a professional manner and were delivered within the established schedule and budget. Stellar’s professionals have the experience, knowledge and skill sets necessary to properly design and execute large projects effectively.
Through the years we have found the Stellar personnel to be of the highest quality and to be very qualified in their respective positions. They perform well as a team and all have the successful completion of the job and customer satisfaction as a major objective.
The design team has always been attentive to customer requirements, and they have spent time examining the customers’ existing operations to fully understand the unique customer requirements. They are energy-conservation conscious and are helpful with suggestions for new materials.
The means and methods for accomplishing the work are always well-planned, well-supervised, and well-executed. The selection of subcontractors has always been done in a thorough manner with very capable subs placed on the job.
I can’t say enough about Stellar's attention to the safety and security of our residents, families, visitors and staff. As our existing building remained open throughout the yearlong construction process, Stellar implemented comprehensive safety procedures such as floor-to-ceiling barriers, workers posted at entry points and more. They were truly uncompromising in ensuring a safe worksite and minimizing any disruption to our residents' safety and quality of life. For most of the project, folks didn't even realize they were in the building.
Stellar exceeded all of our expectations. The project was delivered on time and within budget. In addition to their safety procedures, they communicated proactively throughout the project, with comprehensive reports and updates. From our very first meeting; it was clear that Stellar was committed to getting everything right. They were uncompromising in their attention to detail and remained focused on quality, budget and timeliness.
During the past seven years we have partnered on multiple facility renovation projects with Stellar. The Zeeland facility project was one of the more enjoyable projects. The project was located in the middle of the facility and presented many logistical opportunities. The project was completed three weeks early and under budget. As we continue our relationship moving forward it would be my pleasure to work with Stellar.

The Stellar team was able to maintain the project budget and adhere to the project schedule while meeting the evolving needs of the end-users as well as the IMCOM G-9 management team. Being able to adapt to the ever-changing government requirements can be challenging, but the Stellar Team met all challenges effectively and with a can-do, team oriented philosophy.
