The Williams Residence Hall renovation is an in-progress project which involves refurbishments to modernize the existing spaces and enclose the existing breezeway with storefront glass to create a centralized common area tying to the adjacent McGehee Hall. The first floor common areas will include collaborative study areas, reception, offices, and laptop charging stations. The building’s mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systems will be fully upgraded. All four floors will involve abatement of the flooring containing asbestos. The first floor will be demolished to expose the existing terrazzo. The second, third and fourth floors will receive luxury vinyl plank flooring. The bathrooms will be demolished and refinished with new counter tops, plumbing fixtures, tile, and toilet partitions. Each new floor will have two ADA compliant bathrooms. A new fire protection system will be installed. The exterior brick will be cleaned and re-pointed with new architectural tile accent walls. The project is anticipated to be completed in July 2017.
