Meet Thomas Gibbs, Stellar Superintendent

Thomas Gibbs is a Superintendent II in Stellar’s Commercial Group.

A seasoned professional, Thomas has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, mostly in his native, Anchorage, Alaska. In August 2018, he joined the Stellar Commercial team and began work immediately on Jacksonville University’s Health Science Building.

“Over the past three years, Tom has been a dedicated Superintendent to the projects he has worked on,” said John Bowles, Vice President of Operations for the Commercial Group.

Most recently, Thomas is completing work on Darifair Food Inc.’s (now rebranded to Rubix Foods, Inc.) new Corporate Headquarters and Research & Development facility in Jacksonville. He has helped with every aspect of the project, including design.

Like all construction projects, Darifair has had its share of challenges. Research & Development facilities are inherently tricky because you are making a tool for the unknown, Bowles said. The company also rebranded to Rubix Foods in the middle of the project, and current difficulties in the construction industry, including long lead times and a shortage of qualified workers, were considerations on the Darifair project as well.

Through it all, however, Thomas has shown all the qualities of a leader by tackling every issue head-on. In addition to building trust with the project’s owner, he has been an integral part of its success.

“I greatly appreciate [Thomas] leaving his ego at the door every morning and pushing through to the get the job accomplished regardless of the obstacles,” said Jeffrey Block, Executive Vice President of Darifair Foods Inc.
