Meet William Wofford, Sr. Service Technician in West Coast Service

This month, we are pleased to shine the spotlight on William (Wil) Wofford, who works out of the regional office in Modesto, California.

A Senior Service Technician with more than 25 years of industrial refrigeration experience, Wil personifies Stellar’s commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

Wil began his Stellar career in 2007 and quickly established himself as a strong leader and a master troubleshooter. In 2016, he assumed the role of Bay Area Technician. In this role, he provides weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual maintenance to longtime customers in and around San Francisco. In January 2022, he was promoted to Senior Service Technician.

An avid learner, Wil attends Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) meetings each month to stay current on changes and best practices in the industry. In addition to being a RETA Certified Operator, he holds a certification in Troubleshooting Electrical Circuits and is HazMat and EPA certified.

““Wil Wofford is truly a stellar technician. His dedication to his customers, safety and Stellar are second to none,” says Rob Perkins, Director of Service for Refrigeration Services. “Wil lives the Stellar mission, and we are thrilled to have him as an instrumental part of our West Coast Team.”

Because Wil has in-depth knowledge of plant operations and hands-on experience with all major refrigeration brands, he understands key service and installation requirements for all aspects of ammonia refrigeration, which his customers appreciate.

Ray McKey, maintenance manager at the Columbus Meats Packaging Facility in Hayward, California, says Wil is responsible for “keeping them going.” And because Wil does his job so well, the local fire department sends companies interested in installing an ammonia refrigeration system to Columbus Meats to see how it’s done.

“Our plant is known as the Gold Standard for ammonia systems and PSM (Process Safety Management) programs throughout the area,” McKey says.

A consummate professional, Wil works quickly and efficiently to resolve customer issues because he knows when their refrigeration systems are not operating properly, it can cost A LOT in lost product and production downtown. He is also in near constant communication with the facility manager via phone, text and email until the issue is resolved.

“I really appreciate Wil's knowledge and his sense of urgency,” McKey says. “If there's anything that's holding him up, he doesn't take no for an answer. He keeps pushing forward … and that's stellar service from anyone.”
