The Williams Residence Hall renovation involved refurbishments to modernize the existing spaces and enclose the existing breezeway with storefront glass to create a centralized common area tying to the adjacent McGehee Hall. The first-floor common areas include collaborative study areas, reception, offices and laptop charging stations. The building’s mechanical, plumbing and lighting systems were fully upgraded. All four floors involve abatement of the flooring containing asbestos. The first floor was demolished to expose the existing terrazzo. The second, third and fourth floors received luxury vinyl plank flooring. The bathrooms were demolished and refinished with new counter tops, plumbing fixtures, tile and toilet partitions. Each new floor has two ADA compliant bathrooms. A new fire protection system was installed. The exterior brick was cleaned and repointed with new architectural tile accent walls.
