Two Stellar Employees Appointed to AIA Jacksonville's 2015 Board of Directors
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 27, 2015)—Two employees of Stellar, a fully integrated firm focused on design, engineering, construction and mechanical services worldwide, have been appointed to the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Jacksonville’s 2015 board of directors. Stellar architect Jennifer Suharmadji was named secretary, while Stellar vice president Tony Lamell was named a chapter delegate to the AIA Florida Board of Directors.
This is Suharmadji’s first year on the board. In addition to secretary, she also holds the position of Trade Show Chair.
“My community is very important to me, especially, my professional community,” Suharmadji said. “It’s an exciting time to be an architect in Jacksonville given all of the buzz surrounding downtown development.”
Suharmadji also mentors with ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) and is the vice president/president-elect of First Coast Rotaract, a young professional service organization affiliated with Rotary International.
Lamell has been involved with AIA Jacksonville for over 20 years. This marks Lamell’s third term as a chapter delegate. In this role, Lamell serves on a 20-person task force that’s helping reposition the structure of the AIA board at the state level with the initiative of providing the utmost value and services to AIA members.
“In our industry, your responsibility goes beyond just being the architect. It’s also about understanding how you can interact with the community and make our profession better understood,” Lamell said. “This role has been both enlightening and rewarding because I’m helping to facilitate that for chapters across the state of Florida.”
Lamell is also serving on the Membership Committee of the AIA Florida Board, representing the Jacksonville chapter. Previously, Lamell has held leadership roles with both the Jacksonville and state AIA chapter, including the State Director position on AIA’s Florida board.
