JBS Prepared Foods – Principe Food Facility Named Food Engineering’s 2024 Plant of the Year

JBS Prepared Foods' Principe facility in Columbia, Missouri, has been honored with the Food Plant of the Year award by Food Engineering magazine. The accolade recognizes the innovative partnership between JBS and design-build firm Stellar in creating a production facility for premium Italian cured meats. The facility, spanning 315,000 square feet on 80 acres, specializes in salami, pepperoni, prosciutto, pancetta, and coppa products. The $200 million greenfield project utilizes advanced automation and technology to ensure quality and efficiency in meat production. Through strategic equipment layouts and cutting-edge technology like AGVs and gantry robots, the plant maintains high food safety standards. The project blends tradition and innovation to honor Principe's 75-year legacy as an industry leader while integrating into the local community.
